What to Look For in a Double Travel Buggy
A compact side-by-side that has tiny footprint (for use in public transport and narrow doors). Add seats or a carrycot (with adaptors) to grow the frame to accommodate children up to 50lbs per seat.
A budget-friendly, basic double with rear and front suspension to take care of uneven surfaces, a large storage basket, and a cushioned handlebar for parents of different heights.
Size
In general double pushchair s are larger than single models - especially when they're side by side buggies, like the Kolcraft Geo 3 and UPPAbaby Vista 2. This extra width allows them to accommodate larger children without straining their chassis. They also come with other key characteristics that make them stand out, including generously-sized pop-out canopies with SPF 50 and peekaboo windows; swivel lock front wheels that make it easier to navigate tight areas such as shopping aisles; cups with a single parent holder, a smart fold mechanism that can be done by one hand; and 10 inch back wheels that aren't made for rough terrain, but can manage city streets and theme parks quite well.
These side-by-side buggies are light and have surprisingly low price tags.
Weight
The lighter the double buggy the more easy it is to move and lift. The Joie Evalite Duo is a good choice if you need to be aware of weight. It's the lightest in our Lab tests, but it still has plenty of features, including large pop-out canopies that come with SPF 50 and windows that peek out and a quick-release fold that stows flat within minutes; four-wheel suspension to handle rough terrain and an swivel front wheel that makes getting around narrow aisles in supermarkets and shops easy. It's also extremely affordable at more than PS1,000. It can also carry twins or a baby and toddler with the purchase of an additional'sidepack'.
Flexibility
A well-designed double buggy will offer a huge amount of flexibility, regardless if you have twins or two toddlers or a baby. Buggies that are narrow are a great way to squeeze into small spaces. Side-by-side models allow you to keep track of your children and keep them safe while you go to the grocery store or in the park. A lot of buggies come with a variety seat configurations so you can adjust the seat as your child grows. Some allow you to add an automobile seat or ride-on board.

The Joie Evalite duo is a perfect example. It can hold two seats or a car seat, and its easy-to-use adaptors allow you to change from single to double in a matter of seconds. It has a large pop-out canopy sunshade with UPF 50+ protection, adjustable legrests and peekaboo window in both seats. A standing fold is simple to make and quick.
Tri-fold buggies such as the iCandy Peach are another versatile option. They are great to navigate narrow doors and aisles. They are also able to accommodate twins or a child and a big kid with the addition of UPPAbaby's ‘PiggyBack’ board (which is sold separately). The basket is generous and comes with all the extras like liners and raincovers.
Tandem buggies typically have your children seated together, which can make them easier to push and more stable on uneven surfaces but they can be difficult to maneuver around kerbs. They have a bigger footprint than a one-seater and can be too large to fit through doorways.
Comfort
This is among the most comfortable, lightweight doubles that we have test. It features stadium-style seating on both seats, ensuring that your children can take in the view. It also has an enormous UPF 50+ canopy with the peek-a-boo window, and a padded toddler seat with an RumbleSeat with built-in adjustable foot and leg rests, as well as an integrated cup holder for one parent. Testers love how the seats recline independently by pressing a lever under each seat, and also say that the straps are easy to unfasten and fasten with just one hand. The handle is easy to twist, making it simple to fold. It also stores by putting the backrest up for easy access.
With 30 different configurations (it'll carry twins as well as a toddler and baby or three kids if you add the option of a "PiggyBack" board) This is a great choice for families who want to be able to grow with their child. The spacious basket and soft suspension make it suitable for kerbs as well as for use in cities. It's also very well priced. BabyGearLab recommends it to children between the ages of 6 and 6.
